ABOUT LISA
Hi, I'm
Lisa Baker
Recruitment was never about filling vacancies for me.
It's always been about people.
For more than 20 years, I've had the privilege of helping businesses find exceptional talent and helping individuals make career moves that change the course of their lives. I've celebrated promotions, supported career pivots and watched candidates grow into leadership roles years after we first met.
What I've always loved about recruitment is that it's one of the few professions where you can genuinely make a difference. The right hire can transform a business. The right opportunity can change someone's future. Being part of those journeys is something I never take for granted.
Why FMCG?
Because it's an industry built on relationships, resilience and commercial ambition.
It's fast-paced, constantly evolving and full of talented people who make things happen. Over the years, I've built a network across FMCG Sales and Marketing that spans the UK, EMEA and South Africa, connecting great people with great businesses.
I've worked with ambitious start-ups, growing businesses and established brands, helping them attract commercial talent that drives growth, strengthens teams and delivers results.
A little more about me...
I live in Warsash, Hampshire with my husband and our two Dachshunds, Milly and Max.
When I’m not recruiting. you’ll usually find me near the merina. walking the dogs, creating content around careers and recruitment, or spending time with family.
My Journey
Five years ago, I made the bold move from South Africa to the UK — leaving behind sunshine, an incredible support network and, most heartbreakingly, my daughter and family.
I was due to leave in March 2020, but COVID had other plans. After a three-month delay, I finally made the leap. We first settled in Cornwall before finding our home in the beautiful village of Warsash, Hampshire, on the banks of the River Hamble.
Since then, I've continued building and growing my FMCG recruitment business from the UK. It's been a journey filled with early morning interviews, late-night calls and more coffee than I'd care to admit.
Working across two continents has taught me that recruitment is about far more than filling vacancies. It's about understanding people, cultures, businesses and ambitions. It's about listening carefully, asking the right questions and helping people make decisions that can genuinely shape their future.
Like many business owners, I've faced my fair share of challenges along the way - from navigating compliance and tax requirements to balancing growth, family life and wellbeing. Each challenge has reinforced the importance of adaptability, resilience and maintaining a sense of humour when things don't quite go to plan.
Leaving South Africa was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. Building a business from another continent brought a whole new set of challenges. But it also gave me a fresh perspective on change, opportunity and the importance of relationships.
Perhaps that's why I connect so strongly with the people I work with. Whether it's a business searching for the right person or a candidate considering a life-changing career move, I understand what it feels like to step into the unknown and trust the journey ahead.
What I've Learned
After more than two decades in recruitment, one thing has become very clear:
Great hiring decisions are rarely made from a CV alone.
Skills and experience matter, of course. But relationships, values, ambition and cultural fit matter just as much.
The best placements happen when people and businesses share a vision for where they're going.
That's why I take the time to get to know both my clients and candidates properly. Not just the job title. Not just the salary. The bigger picture.
I believe recruitment should feel personal. Honest conversations matter. Trust matters. Long-term relationships matter.
Why ERS Exists
ERS was built on a simple belief: recruitment should be built on relationships, not transactions.
I intentionally keep the business boutique, allowing me to work closely with both clients and candidates. That means every search is handled with care, attention and a genuine commitment to finding the right fit for the long term.
Today, I partner with FMCG businesses across the UK, EMEA and South Africa, helping them attract exceptional commercial talent while supporting candidates in building careers they'll be proud of.
If you're looking for a recruiter who values relationships as much as results, I'd love to have a conversation.
