Summary
Manage the commercial operations for brands in SSA directly & through two direct reports in-country and distributors
Key Functions
Oversee the business development of Imagine brands including assigned countries and those of direct reports.
Achieve agreed sales targets and manage promotional spends within agreed budgets
Develop and implement simple Joint Business Plans, agreed with distributors
Execute, monitor and control agreed marketing activities
Plan, monitor and control SKU range, pricing and channel distribution
Ensure regulatory and packaging compliance (3rd party support as required)
Monitor distributor stock levels and ensure timely submission of orders across the region
Liaise with marketing on marketing mix, Imagine commissions, logistics & annual budget
Together with Consultancy Division, explore new distributorship opportunities within the region including:
Negotiate revenue both for exploratory work & then ongoing brand management for new potential brands Coordinate/complete required SnapShots generating management summaries for new potential brands
Research and find new potential distributors and then conduct basic due diligence (using Imagine template)
Negotiate with and appoint appropriate new distributors for Imagine brands within the region, ensuring brand fit
Provide appropriate management feedback, implementing and coordinating for the team:
Simple monthly distributor target matrix report by principal
Timely regional sales/costs/commission/P&L management report
Timely response to ad-hoc requests
Job Requirements
Ideally university degree or equivalent related experience
10+ years in sales, marketing and business development – experience/contacts within Africa a distinct advantage
Strong sales skills and commercial acumen, coupled with marketing knowledge
Solid understanding of product P&L and cost implications
Efficient time management and ability to manage multiple brands in multiple countries
Strong communication skills at all levels
Clear thinker, problem solver and able to work effectively and independently
Business proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and social media communication techniques
English speaking, Arabic desirable and French advantageous
Working Conditions
Home based with regular travel to visit countries and distributors
