MARKETING EXECUTIVE/HEAD OF MARKETING – JHB

In a nutshell we are looking for a candidate who has strong commercial acumen together with classical marketing.  Manging a team of 7 – Marketing Manager, 3 BM, 2 Cat Dev Managers, Graphic Designer.  Reporting into the CEO.  

Overview

To maximize portfolio value and drive the strategic consumer marketing vision through increased presence, profitability, and share for the company and the creation of processes and allocation of resources to execute the strategies via the Marketing teams in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job objective

Collaborate with the business team to uncover insights for developing marketing and branding strategies for existing and new products.

Oversee and grow the marketing department by identifying revenue opportunities among established markets and by securing new consumers through products and geographies. 

Identify short- and long-term scheduling and resource needs, including development and management of annual marketing budget, profit-and-loss projections, and expenditures. 

Understand key performance metrics and tracking tools for market research, forecasts, competitor analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends, and translate results into actionable insights for the marketing team.

Key Responsibilities

Understand the Market and Demand Drivers 

− Situational analysis on industry, category, economy, and competitors to identify trends, growth opportunities and business and regulatory risks, and recommended actions 

Develop Portfolio and Category Strategy

− Create a shared vision and purpose for Home of Living Brands within the Sub South African small domestic appliances industry, i.e. Purpose, Where to Play and How to Win 

− Champion resource allocation, processes, best practices, structural design, and investment for the Marketing team 

Execution of Strategy 

− Champion strategy alignment across cross-functional teams to effect execution. 

− Led the Marketing team in the annual plan necessary to achieve 5-year strategy execution to Brand Positioning, Brand and shopper plans and Sales, market share, consumer conversion, and brand equity goals 

Achieving Financial Targets 

− Set business targets via the business planning, budgeting, and demand planning process, aligned with Sales and Finance 

− Drive team accountability for achieving business targets for the categories, brands, and products (e.g. Advise discrepancies and follow up on corrective measures between Marketing and Sales departments) 

− Lead the Category Development team to develop winning strategies by the retail environment, articulating execution matrix vis MAPP and wiring in the business for seamless execution 

Drive the Innovation Agenda 

− Develop the innovation strategy and gain business alignment to goals and budgets in conjunction with Sourcing/NBD team 

− Create a framework to foster a culture of innovation in the business to differentiate HOLB for a sustainable competitive edge 

− Anticipate and meet current and future growth trends through long-term innovation and portfolio lifecycle management practices 

Working Capital 

− Support the business Sales and Operations Planning process through clear demand creation initiatives and execution calendar − Implement best practices between Category Development, Demand Planning, and Brand Leads to ensure effective and efficient product stock supply 

− Ensure efficient management of A&P aligned with Accounts Payable targets 

Value Extraction 

− Drive margin enhancement and business simplification 

− Continuously review the marketing mix through the application of ROI 

Customer Excellence 

− Led the Category Development team in the development of Category Visions and Joint Business Planning initiatives with Customers 

− Support in the development of strategy key account plans to leverage AI and Customer strategy and drive long-term sustainable growth

Job Requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements and Work Experience: 

Relevant degree in marketing/business 

10 years of consumer marketing experience (preferably in an FMCG environment or in the appliances industry) 

5 years + proven experience in a leadership position with responsibility for strategy formulation, delivering financial and market share results 

Fluent in English (reading and writing).
